Drimble

Overview

Provincie Noord-Holland awarded Drimble — the largest Dutch news aggregation platform — an MIT feasibility subsidy to combat fake news with AI. Liplyn Information Group developed the AI detection system behind it: advanced data analysis techniques that identify and filter misinformation, stopping its spread before it reaches Drimble's 2.7 million unique visitors.

Over 14 years, Drimble collected roughly 150 million news articles from thousands of sources. Within that stream, misinformation spreads fast and is nearly impossible to moderate manually. The platform needed an AI system that could assess articles at scale and flag fake news without slowing down publication.

We built an AI fake news detection system using advanced data analysis and machine learning. The fake news indicator is rolled out step by step: the first visible development for Drimble visitors is a feedback button on every news article, feeding signals into the detection models. The system learns from this feedback to identify and filter misinformation across the entire article base.

Drimble now has an AI-driven foundation for fighting fake news across its 150 million article archive, supported by an MIT subsidy from Provincie Noord-Holland covering about 40% of total project costs. The platform continues to grow towards a freemium and premium model with personalized newsletters, an ad-free experience and user-published posts.
